The Pittsburgh Symphony invites the community to join them on an exploration of both Pittsburgh and the musical genius of Beethoven. For the first time in Pittsburgh history, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Manfred Honeck, will perform all nine Beethoven symphonies in one week at exceptional locations, and will perform all 16 Beethoven string quartets in a groundbreaking collaboration with libraries throughout the region. All but one of the concerts will be free to the public.
Beethoven In Your Neighborhood connects the power, heroism, humanity, and revolutionary spirit of Beethoven with the brilliance of the Pittsburgh Symphony and special community spaces. Initially conceived to celebrate the Pittsburgh Symphony’s 125th anniversary in 2020-2021 and the 250th anniversary of Beethoven in 2020, the music and the anniversaries compel us to celebrate together.
